information About Software-defined networking (SDN) technology - A brief overview
  Software-defined networking (SDN) technology

What is Software-defined networking SDN?

SDN is a type of Network Management Technology, (not be confused with ISDN), that enables dynamic, efficient network configuration, to improve overall network performance and monitoring.

This is achieved by centralizing network intelligence in one network component, using cloud computing techniques, rather than be governed by the static architecture of traditional network management.

SD-WAN is a spin off from this, that uses similar techniques for wide area network (WAN) Management.

Some major companies involved in the SDN market include:

  • Alcatel-Lucent
  • Huawei
  • Cisco
  • Juniper Networks
  • NEC
  • IBM
  • Google
  • VMware
  • Hewlett Packard
