About Disruptive Technology - Overview
What is Disruptive Technology?
This term first came about at Harvard Business School.
It concluded that a disruptive technology is one that will supersede or even take over an established technology.
Disruptive Technologies will shake up an industry and may go on to shape a completely new industry. They quite literally disrupt and change the way things have been done, potentially making them, bigger, faster, more effective.
Examples of Disruptive Technologies
- 3D Printing
- Blockchain
- 5G Connectivity
- Artificial Intelligence
- Robotics
- Virtual Reality
- Augmented Reality
- Internet of Things - iOT
There are also Disruptive Technologies that will use other Disruptive Technologies, such as Autonomous Driving - an emerging Technology within transportation. This will actually use the last 6 Technologies from the above list!

Less Technological in nature, but still seen very much as life changing and disruptive to their industries:
