About VPN - Virtual Private Network Software Platforms
What is VPN software?
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. This is a software platform, that enables the use of a private network across an existing public network. VPN enables users to transmit and receive data across shared networks, but with total security, as if their online devices being used were directly connected to a private network.
VPN software works by masking your IP address and encrypting your data. It then routes the data through secure networks to servers that are sometimes located in a different country to the one where you are using your device(s). This then hides your online identity and ensures your browsing security.
The need for VPNs is increasing and it can mean protection of your financial and your personal security.
We would not normally need to use a VPN at our home or work location, as normally our internet activity in these environments would already be secured by our password-protected Wi-Fi network.
The quality of Virtual Private networks do vary and some do slow down the speed of connection, often depending on the cost. Access is normally purchased on a monthly or a per session basis. There are also some free versions...
