What is Telematics technology for Vehicles?
Telematics systems in general, work by connecting various devices, such as GPS trackers, dataloggers etc, to an asset. That tool then collects key performance data about the asset. Once collected, the device sends the information to the Data Center where it can be analysed and used.
The asset mentioned above, is often a road vehicle, especially heavy, light goods and fleets of vehicles. These are amongst the most commonly used applications for Telematics technology.
The position, movement, condition, speed, behaviour of a vehicle within a fleet can all be tracked using telematics. Also, importantly Driver health can be monitored, offering a huge benefit towards increased road safety.
Vehicle Telematics and communication is also being improved generally, with the increasing integration also with 5G, Cloud Services, IoT and V2X
